Fire Department

The Fire Department provides fire and medical response to the City of Sun Valley and, when called, participates in mutual aid calls with other departments in the Wood River Valley. It is a department with full-time and seasonal employees, as well as paid-per-call firefighters.  Currently, there are over twenty paid-per-call firefighters with the Fire Department.

The department operates out of two fire stations. The Elkhorn Station has offices, a conference room, vehicle bays and equipment storage. Two vehicular storage bays are at the City Hall site.

In recent years, the Fire Department has taken an integral role in wildland firefighting.  Annually the City enters into cooperative agreements with USDA – Forest Service, the BLM and Idaho Department of Lands to assist with wildland fire suppression in the Sawtooth National Forest.

The Fire Department prides itself in its commitment to community, property and life. It welcomes men and women interested in serving as paid-per-call firefighters to the community. It is an honor to accept new paid-per-call firefighters and the City is committed to each paid-per-call firefighter's essential training, equipment and uniform requirements.
