Finance Committee

Created in 2012 and amended by Resolution 2013-10, the Finance Committee is a standing committee which comprises two City Council members. They are appointed by the Mayor and serve a six-month term. The City Administrator and Finance Manager serve as staff to the Finance Committee.

Finance Committee meetings are held the Monday prior to regular City Council meetings starting at 1:00 PM in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The purpose of the Finance Committee is:

To review and approve all payables and payroll prior to payment, on behalf of the City Council;
To report to the City Council at its regular monthly meeting that all payables and payroll, for the previous month, are ready to be filed;
To review the City's internal accounting controls and recommend to Council, as needed, new controls or amendments to such controls;
To examine quarterly the accounts and doings of all officers or other persons having the care, management or disposition of moneys, property or business of the City, and report its findings in writing to City Council;
To review the City's annual financial report and to forward the annual financial report to City Council;
To monitor all functions and responsibilities of the Treasurer in accordance with Title 50, Chapter 2, Section 50-208 ; and
To provide and make recommendations on other financial matters of the City.
